About
Dr. Naz M. Ogabian, D.C.,IME
I am Dr. Naz Ogabian, a doctor of chiropractic with over 25 years of experience and dedication in the field, who also has a passion for providing exceptional healthcare services to individuals and corporations alike. I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in December of 1993, becoming the youngest graduate in the history of PCCW. Demonstrating my commitment and competence, I successfully passed my board exam on the first attempt and obtained my license in April of 1994. That same month, I embarked on a new journey as I married the love of my life.
My Journey
To gain invaluable experience and further hone my skills, I worked for several established chiropractors in the field. It was during this time that I realized my true calling and the desire to open my own practice. On May 11, 1997, I took a leap of faith and established my own chiropractic clinic, which I proudly operate to this day. My practice quickly gained recognition for its commitment to excellence and patient-centric care.
In addition to running my practice, I embarked on an innovative venture in the chiropractic field. Understanding the importance of holistic healthcare in corporate settings, I founded Ogabian On-Site Chiropractic Care, Inc. This pioneering corporation offered chiropractic services directly to employees within corporate campuses. By providing on-site care, we aimed to enhance the well-being and productivity of individuals working in high-tech companies in Silicon Valley. Over the course of 21 years, Ogabian On-Site Chiropractic Care, Inc. flourished, acquiring numerous contracts and establishing a reputation for its exceptional services.
In 2004 and 2005, I experienced the joy of becoming a parent, as I was blessed with a son and a daughter. Balancing my personal and professional life, I continued to dedicate myself to the field of chiropractic and the well-being of my patients.
However, as the world underwent profound changes due to the pandemic, my life took an unexpected turn. Little did I know that my health, direction, and purpose were about to undergo a transformative shift. On August 23, 2018, I encountered a profoundly stressful situation that triggered a series of life-altering symptoms. In that moment, I experienced an extreme barrage of words and sounds, causing my brain to tremor uncontrollably. Despite the stress dissipating, my symptoms persisted and worsened.
Over the following months, I diligently researched and sought answers to understand the cause of my symptoms. I went through a range of emotions, from denial to anger and ultimately acceptance. Seeking medical expertise, I underwent a battery of tests, including bloodwork, EMG, EEG, brain scans, and MRIs. While these tests appeared normal, my persistent symptoms led me to self-diagnose with Cervical Dystonia, a neurological disorder that does not manifest on standard medical tests.
Frustratingly, many neurologists I consulted had not even heard of Cervical Dystonia. Rather than acknowledging their lack of knowledge, some dismissed my symptoms and refused to explore my concerns. Determined to find validation and confirmation, I persevered through debilitating symptoms that left me in tears and unable to attend to my practice or daily activities.
Finally, my pursuit led me to a neurologist at Stanford who confirmed my diagnosis. While the conventional treatment for Cervical Dystonia involves denervation botulinum injections every four months, this revelation opened my eyes to a new calling in my life. Armed with firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with neurological disorders, I felt compelled to contribute to the field in a different capacity.
Today, I am dedicated to raising awareness about Cervical Dystonia and other neurological disorders. Through my personal journey, I have developed a profound empathy and a compassion for healing.
Discovery and Challenges
My journey began with a chance encounter with Dr. Farias and his book, "Limitless." Every page I turned resonated with me deeply, evoking tears and providing answers to the questions that plagued my mind. It was through Dr. Farias' teachings that I discovered the concept of neuroplasticity and the possibility of recovery. Overwhelmed with emotions, I traveled to Toronto to learn from him, yet I still grappled with the persistent question of "why me?"
A Paradigm Shift
A pivotal moment occurred when I mustered the courage to open up to my mother about my condition, fearing her reaction. However, her response shattered my preconceptions. With unwavering firmness, she shared profound wisdom that altered my perspective forever. "Listen carefully," she said. "There is not a soul in this world who has no pain or suffering. Know that you are not alone. Focus on your recovery." In that instant, my "why me" transformed into "why not me," propelling me towards the next phase: acceptance.
The Journey Begins
July 22, 2019, marked the dawn of a new phase as I detected the first tremors in my left leg. It was a subtle reminder of the challenges that lay ahead, and yet it served as a catalyst for my determination to explore potential solutions and embark on the path to healing.
Treatment and Progress
In January 2020, I underwent my initial round of botulinum toxin injections, albeit at a low dosage, which provided minimal relief. However, with subsequent visits and increasing dosages over the course of a year, I gradually achieved a maximum dosage of 500 units, resulting in 25 to 35% relief for 2 to 4 weeks at a time.
Discovering the Keys to Progress
Throughout my journey, I have encountered various strategies and interventions that have played a role in alleviating my symptoms and fostering a sense of well-being. Dr. Farias' customized exercises and movements have been instrumental in my progress. Additionally, activities such as dancing, swimming, breathwork, and ocular exercises have contributed to the enhancement of brain mapping and overall resilience. Stress reduction has emerged as a vital component, as heightened stress levels directly exacerbate symptoms. I have also noticed a temporary improvement in my tremors through NAD IV treatments, which not only enhance sleep quality but also support cellular health and mitochondrial function.
The Role of Chiropractic Adjustments
Amidst this intricate tapestry of interventions, chiropractic adjustments have served as a valuable tool in managing pain and stiffness associated with my condition. The expertise of chiropractors, combined with their holistic approach to healthcare, has provided me with physical relief and emotional support throughout my journey.
Conclusion
My personal and professional odyssey with Cervical Dystonia has been marked by numerous challenges, emotional upheavals, and moments of profound insight. Through the prism of my own experiences, I have gained an unwavering belief in the power of neuroplasticity and the potential for recovery. The voyage of my own revival led to my next calling in life to be gathering the sources of cure all under one roof to have it accessible to a community where people gather, connect, heal, and optimize their health on all levels.
